i was able to snag one at the end of the show...merch stands were cash only so i could only grab one. Show Edition was $30 & NOT S/N. Emailed Slater and he may ship me a s/n one. G69P you still want the show edition for sale/trade?
great show but it was redic that the band didnt go on until midnight when doors opened at 9pm. Didn't know there were openers until the day of and they SUCKED...had to leave at 1:10am to catch last train from NY to CT but I can't be too upset b/c they played everything I wanted to hear off their old albums and Brothers (besides Black Mud)
anybody know where I can view a setlist??
thanks

Anyone go to their other shows? Is their normal start time for this tour? I'm thinking about going tomorrow.YellowBedwetter wrote:it was redic that the band didnt go on until midnight when doors opened at 9pm.

Wow, I would totally disagree with that... but I guess artwork is subjective. I'm much more on the side of Imatruck and think this is one of Todd's strongest of year so far (although he's had some great designs this year...).johnr1311 wrote:looks like Todd called this one in
This sort of thing is what blows me away about Todd - to me, this is very different from any other poster he's produced. There are some 'sketch' elements that have surfaced before, but this kind of 'charcoal', 'sketch-on-the-fly' design is fresh for him, and in my opinion, executed as though he's done tons of this work. The guy is an absolute ninja with different styles, and most of his first attempts are like a throwing star to the throat.

YBW- my post was meant to applaud the kind gesture and wasn't meant to request assistance
But if you bought a print with me in mind and can't find another I will take it- few dollars won't hurt me and I don't want to leave you hanging with a print that might keep you from making future offers to others!
As advice- always confirm with somebody via PM.

That was what I wanted so I'm glad you saw that. I was looking at blue note record covers and the line quality alot of those illustrations have. The vibe on those covers feels really close to the Black Keys aesthetic to me. I thought about places in the city, and how drawing the tenements represented their beginnings more then the bight lights. The patterning in the fire escapes gave me something to work with graphically too.but this kind of 'charcoal', 'sketch-on-the-fly'
Here's some of the covers I was looking at to give you a better idea where I was coming from:

Chantry was the guy who really turned me on to Blue Note about 5 years ago.

That's awesome Todd, thanks for coming in here and sharing some of the inspiration and process - this is a great poster.slater wrote:That was what I wanted so I'm glad you saw that.
