Im addicted to puzzles at the moment. Not your boring jigsaw puzzle, but cleverly designed steel, cast and mechanical puzzles.
A year or so ago Youtube suggested a Chris Ramsay video to me. He's a bloke that does magic, solves puzzles, etc. It was a video of him solving the Lotus Puzzle.
The design and machining involved in the puzzle is very impressive, and since then ive watched the odd video he has put out. Well anyway a few weeks ago I ordered my first set of puzzles - Hanayama puzzles to be exact.
They are small heavy items that are fun to just fiddle with, but require patience and dexterity to solve. And when you finally get them it is very satisfying. This is my favourite of the ones I have - https://www.puzzlemaster.ca/browse/wire ... cast-chain
If you're interested in this sort of stuff I recommend checking out https://www.puzzlemaster.ca/ and picking a few up.

Very cool. I met an engineering student at our local hackerspace. There was a small group of us learning our way to use the laser cutter. He was working on a wood puzzle design for his mom...said he makes different/unique puzzles for her bday every year. Pretty cool of him.
