Nope.
I like the way Drake incorporates his dominant line work in this composition as the laser...

The comp's nice, not as dynamic as the Akira (though that had far more movement implied) but the size/perspective difference is cool. I wish there was more perspective on the three lasers, it demands more 3Dness to it than tapering into even 2D search lights in the bottom, but that's a personal nitpick. Otherwise love the play on having the oversized head aspect of the poster act against the smaller wide composition at the bottom.
It's probably gonna be a killer metal. Sigh. As if this hobby doesn't cost enough, now HCG's starting to churn metal after metal? Devious bastards.

Yea I agree. Metal prints are awesome, but this predator one is just not as good looking as akira or other metal pieces. Still looks greatjkw3000 wrote:The comp's nice, not as dynamic as the Akira (though that had far more movement implied) but the size/perspective difference is cool. I emailed the gallery and asked edition size earlier today. Adam emailed back saying between 25 and 30.
The Akira had the benefit of a scene that really took advantage of the metal - the road being metal was such a sick, sick look to give it. There are probably some similar opportunities for this Predator piece but it's just a different kind of scene being displayed, and with more specific elements. Not that I mind, anytime we can add Arnold (well, "Arnold" since we don't really see him face-wise) to a metal is a win for AMERICA.av308 wrote:Yea I agree. Drake's just killing it, the stuff he comes out with for metals now (and in general, love his work) are pretty much on another level. Picking between them is like picking between episodes from the best season of your favorite TV show - no matter what it's all good.

I don't know if I would ever want a metal print but this thing is drymounting sweet.

Metal prints are cool, and I think this one lends particularly well to the medium, but they are too expensive and unwieldy. $250 is quite a lot to pay, not to mention shipping can be up to another $100. It is really only worth it if you want to hang it up right away, storing these is such a pain. I don't see any resale market for most of the metal prints coming out today (obviously I am not talking about Stouts etc).
