I don't know why, but this made me kinda laugh. I can relate.
Hey, we've all felt that way at one time or another.
Like the time I threw my golf clubs in a pond and said "drymount It!"
Good word, Dan! You nailed the emotion!

Let me be the first to say I don't like it. Not that Dan doesn't kick royal ass, and the art itself is great, but I would never frame it. Too much negative energy.
squid and whale is still my favorite for the year.

negativity? what are you talkin about. It is obvious this guy is chopping off the broken, torn sail in order to survive. the boat's got a motor. The art obviously is interpreted as " a new beginning"Mooney wrote:Let me be the first to say I don't like it. forsaken: to renounce or turn away from entirely. synonym see: abandon.
you're probably right though.

Well, he's not chopping the sail, which is already gone, he's chopping the mast. And if the boat had a motor, which is nowhere to be seen in the print, he wouldn't have to chop the "sail" in order to survive. So I guess maybe it's not quite so obvious.hotniks160 wrote:negativity? what are you talkin about. I like an image like this precisely because it's not as straightforward, as 'positive' as some others
The willing sabotage, stranding, isolating yourself, due to what? Hurt or fear, belligerence or ego- or just plain stupidity? A lot of people relate to those conditions. It seems to portray a negative experience, a bad moment...but...maybe that's in order to never forget it, and be inspired to fight through/ avoid it the next time around
Can't say what Dan meant, but imo it was deeper than "bummer"
