From your username I'm just going to assume you are related to Phil Collins. Good man.

Ive heard this as well.hirschy75 wrote:I understand these aren't real but I thought I read there was a lot of fakes floating about
Thing is, Id like one but with them going for $500-1000......I dont think so.
How would one know its a legit Banksy? Theres no way to authenticate, is there?
Yet, theyre still selling which begs the question: Is a fake of a fake as real as it gets? (that just blew your mind)

Even though it's probably not possible to authenticate a tenner, or easily, I realized recently (the hard way) that there are some tell-tale signs that are worth highlighting for potential buyers.
I'll be able to illustrate this best when I can actually get my hands on a more real-looking piece. But firstly, the fake I received was the wrong color compared with the majority of sellers selling high-priced 'originals'. That is, whether the more 'authentic' pieces are whiter, mine was yellowish. Secondly, the fake I received was unevenly cut compared with the majority of sellers selling high-priced 'originals'. That is, where most 'authentic' pieces have an even and precisely cut border, mine looked hand-cut and didn't stand on the table evenly.
I'm not yet able to comment on factors like paper type, resolution of image and ink used - but I'm sure these are factors in fakes too.
