What do you mostly collect? (Poll content)
What have you been collecting more of these days? It seems that as of recent, people on EB are getting more and more interested in art prints these days...

I prefer and primarily collect art prints, but sometimes gig posters are the only choice.
Previously I wouldn't have even considered an 'art print' as I had rarely, if ever, seen anything I liked. However (and at the risk of sounding like I'm sucking up) my eyes have been opened somewhat since discovering EB and the community built around it.
My taste and scope are broader than ever and I'm extremely pleased to have found my horizons expanded by the excellent quality and imagination of the art and artists currently working.
Thanks EB, and you forum members.

Started out just collecting art prints. Mostly surreal or lowbrow stuff. I would usually only buy gig posters at shows that I actually went to, or bands that I really enjoyed. Then one day I discovered Mr. Aaron Horkey. Everything changed after that, and I really started getting into gig posters. Now days the actual art is what I base my purchases on. I have posters from bands that I don't really like, but the poster is so cool visually and artistically that I have to have it. I've been exposed to so many other great artists since I've discovered EB and I'm really thankful. My wallet on the other hand is not so thankful. But at least most gig posters are cheaper to collect than most giclee prints I want. Although I've spent a large sum of money on my Horkey collection.
I'll voice up for the 'other side'. My preference is for the gigposter. Yes, there are times that I'll take the art print - when re-done with greater detail, twice as many colors as the gigprint, a size more suited to my liking, etc. But honestly, that tends to be rare.
Do I pick up art prints? Sure. But typically my tastes are drawn to the gig print - sometimes I know the band, some not. And I think I own all of 2 or 3 prints for shows I've attended (and realistically, only about probably a dozen that I've been to actually have had posters).
Me... I just enjoy how the text flows with the image in most cases.

50:50 for me. Started out only buying gig posters and have certainly been buying a lot of art prints recently, but if I like it, I like it, regardless of which category it falls into.
this aggression will not stand, man.
Im pretty much only buying art prints from now on, until Horkey does a Tool poster.

I've been dreaming of the day Aaron does a Tool poster. I can only imagine how awesome it would be. Tool = favorite band.Anville wrote:Im pretty much only buying art prints from now on, until Horkey does a Tool poster.
