What’s with the no credits these days? Lookin’ like cheap Walmart posters

Some people just want art prints and not a theatrical looking movie poster. I don't mind either one as long as the art is well made.
A majority of studios haven't allowed it for a while with more coming.Woo5lscott wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 11:18 amWhat’s with the no credits these days? Lookin’ like cheap Walmart posters
We make with what we can do and thankfully most still enjoy it. Plus, we had a few recently with credits.
What’s their objection to credits?acidburn wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 5:50 pmA majority of studios haven't allowed it for a while with more coming.Woo5lscott wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 11:18 amWhat’s with the no credits these days? Lookin’ like cheap Walmart posters

think about it. Your putting someones name on merchandise right?haven wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 5:59 pmWhat’s their objection to credits?acidburn wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 5:50 pmA majority of studios haven't allowed it for a while with more coming.Woo5lscott wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 11:18 amWhat’s with the no credits these days? Chances are a majority of that credit block didn't sign merchandise rights. So if I was someone on that poster, and studio is profiting off my name, I would want some of that money.
While most probably wouldn't care, it's just the studio protecting themselves. All it takes is one disgruntled person.
It's the same as likeness rights. Studios might own the movie itself but if no one signed anything about merchandise, they can't put them on merch.
The theatrical posters you see that are maybe sold on like movie poster sites like trends or movieposters.com, those are all signed off and approved by everyone for advertising. It's different then what we all do.
The Elastigirl border on that Incredibles print is really great.

That's great! I'm glad it was a successful drop for him. I hope everything works out for him and his wife.
