I do remember that it took a LONG ASS time to get to the rest of my numbers though which were, iirc, 30's,40's and 70-100. People were taking their time and understandably so, there was quite a bit to choose from. You could buy one wood panel, the erato print on paper and then maybe 2 each from the archive and test prints? Maybe you could buy either erato on wood or paper? I don't remember the exact details, I just remember it was painful waiting to buy the rest after my first dip
Listen, if Chuck didn't give a fudge about his fans, at 10:01 he would have let the first person in line at TRPS buy every Grateful Dead copy he brought and kicked his heels up and smoked for the next 7 hours and 59 minutes. Instead it was limited to one GD print (or a print from the vault) per person for well over 100 people.
Were there flipper crews working? Absolutely.
Were some of those crew members denied service? Absolutely.
There were still gems on the table at 3:00 just sitting there after 150 people went through the line and another 50 doubled up after no one new showed up.
It's never going to be perfect and it's an ever evolving process, but the mantra of trying to get at least one good piece into as many people's hands as possible is what rules at the end of the day. That's the truth.

why are the edition sizes so low then?
Man, you were everywhere back in the day.ygolohcysp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 7:34 pmThe distribution of numbers definitely was not totally random but there weren't people walking out from the front with 5-10 panels each, not that I noticed at least. Can't say with 100% certainty but I def had at least one single digit number and I didn't see that happen

At TRPS, you are facing the fans directly - I can't lay out all motivation and would not dare to..belltown wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 12:10 amThank you...pewter14 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 8:06 pmListen, if Chuck didn't give a fudge about his fans, at 10:01 he would have let the first person in line at TRPS buy every Grateful Dead copy he brought and kicked his heels up and smoked for the next 7 hours and 59 minutes. Online, EQL and Relix prove not so much re the fans...or at least it makes the motivation doubtful - Do I need to paste in more eb pages of bertha auctions?

I dont get what your point is? That there are copies on the market being sold for more money? Like most releases from any artist you may have heard of today? At a rough glance, there appears to be around 40-50 listed on ebay....... out of 460 regs and 240 foils....(AE run + reg run)... so 7%. That's less than most releases, even if you bump it up to 10%. If you think thats excessive you might be in the wrong hobby...tbraun76 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:13 pmAt TRPS, you are facing the fans directly - I can't lay out all motivation and would not dare to..belltown wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 12:10 amThank you...pewter14 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 8:06 pmListen, if Chuck didn't give a fudge about his fans, at 10:01 he would have let the first person in line at TRPS buy every Grateful Dead copy he brought and kicked his heels up and smoked for the next 7 hours and 59 minutes. For example, that Ferg Guardians poster listed in your ISO. Thats a run of 150 with 34 tracked sales on EB, thats 23% of the run--and we know far more have been sold and waffled than what EB tracks. I dont get what your point is at all.

It's the lord's will that some flippers eat and some fans with deep pockets overpay. Pretty sure it was written in Corinthians

years later...20% Also, many of those listings are inactice or already done. Now compare to a significant chunk on day 1 of relix. In fact, seems likely that 10 to 20% of the foil Berthas are being flipped wihin a few weekspartpat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 6:26 pm^^ LOL - also it’s true.ygolohcysp wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 5:19 pmIt's the lord's will that some flippers eat and some fans with deep pockets overpay. Ensure your math is on an apples to apples basis.
Lets compare recent releases...and let me know who is more egregious. Would be a good analysis. but please dont bring up a 10 year old release and ground yourself in dubious facts
