LD and Jack were posting about the idea on Facebook. It didn't go down too well with some of the fans :)

The Laurent thread was just all over the place and the way it was pitched was more like “hey! Forget posters! We can do this now. And you can print out the file and do whatever you want with it!” That’s why everyone was like that.

It also doesn’t work when you say we don’t need shipping or paper but you will end up charged 7x the price you would normally be charged to a base that is used to buying $75 posters because Beeple...

98% of your old base won’t buy this yet. Have to ease ppl into it.

You can also sort of see artists who want to grow in this market, build a base and really getting into it compared to the artists who are just like yea can probably make money.

Oh watch.

It will get re-released in NFT form once Hijack teaches his old man about it.

Until they sort out the environmental impact of NFTs everyone taking part in it is acting in a reckless manner and they should be ashamed.

ETH 2.0 and Proof of Stake chains.

Then whats the argument after that?

When is that happening? They've been talking about it forever, meanwhile we're witnessing an environmental catastrophe and everyone is just cheering it along.

It's happening now? Top Shots is on Flow. Flow is proof of stake which cuts energy consumption.

I'm definitely not the smartest person out there to argue but there are always two sides. This was an article posted the other day that was informative on both ends https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/05/bitcoin ... print.html

As far as I know (and I could be wrong) ETH2 is only in its relative infancy and still uses an obscene amount of energy. All this for essentially using DRM to conjure the appearance of scarcity and get people to pay good money for gifs and jpegs. Doesn't seem like a good thing to me, but what do I know.

Hey makes two of us. I know only what i read.

Yes you are 100% correct. ETH is just a promise for the moment. However, there are many projects trying to help reduce the energy used + POS helps as well.

Well, if BNG does go down the NFT route, it'll make their mystery tube sales entertaining.

BTW, the secondary sales on the latest NBA Top Shot packs is ridiculous given that they were sold in literally the hundreds of thousands. When's the next one?

It all seems like a bit of cash grab to me, but I’m like others too old to wrap my head around paying $$$$ for a 10 sec gif
