Hmm. Guess it’ll depend on what people think to do with it. Tasted fine, but was just a pretty straight ahead IPA the one I had.

PtY has been on my bucket list for years along with OG Rare BCBS. I'm guessing with advances in both IPA's and BA Stouts, that both would likely be a disappointment now. Not disappointing because they are inferior beers, but so many brewers have excelled and evolved these styles. If you're a die hard West Coast IPA fan, you're probably gritting your teeth at my comment. Plus with RBCBS coming up on 11 years old, it's probably hitting cardboard vintage. For now, I'm ok with these DDH KS bottles for now despite the insane pricing.
No knock intended. I've just found that many BA stouts don't hold up well after a few years. We did a blind tasting this summer of BA vanilla stouts and had a 2018 Fundamental Observation in there with some local 2020 BA Vanilla stouts and everyone thought the 2 year old FO was some shelfie beer. I'd kept it in a wine fridge since 2018.
I'd be interested in how your OG RBCBS is holding up after 10+ years. My other bomber sized BCBS bottles haven't held up well compared to their modern day 500 ml counterparts (Backyard, Coffee, Vanilla, etc.) The adjuncts seem to drop off and the barrel notes seem to get taken over by that oxidation/cardboard taste. The 2015 RBCBS was amazing in 2015 and 2017!

The adjuncts really change over time. The newer vanilla is absolutely spot on right now, where it was terrible fresh. I'd say it is on par with OG VR as it stands today. As for the Bramble... the newer one is drinking better than the OG. The coffee variants really depend on the year... the 12 oz'ers seem to drink the best IMO. Most of the other adjuncts pretty much just miss the point at the beginning and don't do well with age. We do a vertical of BCBS every year, up-to around 10 years, and I can honestly say that there is a good mix of "top picks" throughout the years... it is not specific to the newer versions. I'm 90% sure the OG RBCBS is still phenomenal.oldsyd wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 2:02 pmNo knock intended. I've just found that many BA stouts don't hold up well after a few years. Wasn't 2017 the last time FO was good anyway tho? I still have a couple in my fridge. Hopefully they're not #shelfies.

I've only had FO twice. 1st time (2018 draft), it was amazing, and the 2nd time (2019 draft), it was quite sub-par. My guess is that 2018 was the last good year, but I don't have much additional to compare to.

321 Days Since
DDH Trunk Bait
I drank last years BA Bananaversary late January and it was stellar. The reg banana is mad sweet though, still enjoyable.
