the reason I chose icecream as an example is because I thought it was about as ludicrous as a comparison to purchasing a car
if the quality of the print is that much better - that I can relate with
comparison to banksy? laughable- it would be more like a $50000 open edition in the scheme of comparison.
how many other artist have sold $500 e: timed edition icecream?
bad stuff for collecting IMO - hope this method doesnt spread like Corona
thanks for the discussion- be well
thanks for calling me a donkey blue - always good to bash people on here - pretty sad someone lives their life here

I don't think it's the extra work being put into the print that is driving up the price. Well, maybe a little bit.
James had his first museum exhibition in South Korea last year, it put more eyes on his work. Then there was the releases through the NTWRK site, Dusk Traveler was $250 but the left over prints from JOYCE were $500. His first bronze statue was €4,000 the next one is going to be €8,175.
His prices are just going up. Am I happy for him, yes.
Do I wish he would do $250 prints without all the embellishments, also yes.
I'll just have to search out older prints (pre2014) or a new one that really catches my eye.

i always love it when people try and use metaphors or analogies when everyone in the discussion understands the situation.
he rose his prices. it sucks if you blind buy everything. but its a luxury item and the market will bear it or it won't.
either you understand that concept or you do not.
its not some personal attack to his fans.

I did. My first JJ piece. I've been monitoring all his print releases, and aside from the $3000 print release he did a few months ago, none of his pieces really 'spoke' to me. I'm not happy about the $ increase, but i've spent more on art in the past and it has always been a good investment. Not implying I am flipping this, just saying it eases the sting of paying $500 for a timed edition. This is a long winded way of saying +1
