I see there's a "fake" edition. Can someone tell me how to distinguish them from the real ones?

looking at the sales history dates for that, maybe the answer is posted around Oct of 2008 in this thread. I dont have the time to dig around, but it's probably mentioned here or in the release discussion around that datejellomcmonkeyfish wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:59 amI see there's a "fake" edition. The fakes I ran across was on a glossy paper I've never seen used by Obey, The image in the lapel area was also off. Look at the blue dashes missing on the fake See below:jellomcmonkeyfish wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:59 amI see there's a "fake" edition. Can someone tell me how to distinguish them from the real ones?
From the Signed/Numbered edition:
Fake (also note the glossy paper)

Good stuff there EC and JJ, thanks. So it sounds like they were made before the 2008 election, and if that's the case, although unauthorized by Obey, they were used to promote Obama, not for monetary gain on the collectible market. That's IF they were printed at that time.. ...which brings me to my next question. Is anyone aware of Obey or ever commenting about them?jellomcmonkeyfish wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:59 amI see there's a "fake" edition. Can someone tell me how to distinguish them from the real ones?
I recall discussion on thegiant.org that Shep would no longer sign them. I'm not sure if it was because of fakes though

Nice price for an AP - $7750
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shepard-Fairey ... Sw8Ehe6B3D
There are so many APs in the sale history.
I always kind of wondered if people just slapped AP on signed copies to make them worth more. Heck you could add numbers if you wanted to. Laying out that kind of money without being able to determine what kind of paper it is on would be a no go for me.

LOL at people paying $10,000 for a picture of a guy that bombed children and hospitals. Wow.
At least it will hold its value, unlike a degree from Trump University.fantasticninja wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 4:50 pmLOL at people paying $10,000 for a picture of a guy that bombed children and hospitals. Wow.
