Which is weird because I find the image quite meh.
The Josh Keyes Thread
Keyes has used Ewok's tag in several (I think 3) of his pieces, with no credit or recognition to the original artist. Ewok was tired of his tag being used without permission and called out Keyes, 1xrun, etc for the use of his work.
They seemed to have buffed out the tag on the whale tale, as least in (most) of the promo images, assuming it will be removed before printing as well.

while ewok has a point about permission, he makes himself look like a fool saying josh is using him as a springboard to success...dude obviously doesnt know that the folks that pay 10k for josh's paintings probably dont know and definitely dont care who he is.
If he's so protective of his tag he probably shouldn't leave it all over the place.

Interesting. If I'm understanding this correctly, I do think it's a bit lame if JK is using real tags in these pieces. I just assumed the whole thing would be invented, but then I haven't really cared for this whole graffiti series and haven't been following closely since he dropped the cubes. That said, it's not very "street" to complain about infringement when graffiti is traditionally done illegally, and I would assume the name "ewok" is currently under the Disney IP umbrella .

I don't think he was trying to claim he was part of Josh's success, it more just being bitter that graffiti artists usually don't get as much recognition so he got pissed to see his tag on a high priced fine art piece. I agree, I don't think the actual tag was of any importance to the piece or audience, but can't fault the guy for not being happy about it.lightyears2010 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:24 amwhile ewok has a point about permission, he makes himself look like a fool saying josh is using him as a springboard to success...dude obviously doesnt know that the folks that pay 10k for josh's paintings probably dont know and definitely dont care who he is.

There is 0% chance this sold out. You can still get his "Tin Can" print from them for $350 (originally $200). This print will be in their vault for years as they try to flip their own fudge. I can't stand this type of business.
He was talking about fighting Josh on one comment. Such a tough guylightyears2010 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 11:03 amhe made several comments about josh using his back as a springboard to success. may have been on his IG page he posted 3 of josh's posts and bitched.
