Natalia Ginzburg's 'Family Lexicon'
Just finished this one and I have mixed feelings. On one hand I loved it. I think it's just amazing the way is written, the story. Everything.
On the other hand, I have issues with people like her...

Yeah, that's the one I meant. Was still up when I was in there in March.

The Passage by Justin Cronin.
Apparently there’s a show. Haven’t seen it.

That book is wildly entertaining. The two sequels are good as well, but they don’t match up to the magic of the first.

I can’t imagine the show is worth a damn.

I just finished The Broken Earth Trilogy by N. K. Jemisin.
Books are The Fifth Season, The Obelisk Gate, and The Stone Sky.

Fantastic story and writing, up there with the best I've read.

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin.

Silly coincidence in sci-fi novels, Slaughterhouse 5 and this were released in the same month. In Vonnegut's, a Tralfamadorian says "so it goes".
In Le Guin's, a Karhider says "so it is".

Scotty by Ken Dryden

Part biography of one of the best coaches in sports, Scotty Bowman, and part Bowman discussing his choices of the top eight NHL teams of all-time.

Very well structured book as it discusses the teams chronologically and what was happening in Bowman's life/career at that time.

It was a great time to be a Wings fan with him at the helm.

That was a fun team to watch. Yzerman was one of my favourite players, but when he started to play more defensively for the good of the team it made me appreciate him even more.

Loved Yzerman. Never thought he was the most talented but he had something special about him. And then we started bringing in the Russians, Fedorov, Larionov, Vladimir the Impaler Konstantinov. McCarty, Shanahan, that awesome rivalry with the Avs, McCarty kicking the snot out of that gutless turd Lemieux as soon as the puck dropped after he took out Draper from behind, Vernon and Roy meeting at center ice. Good times.

Permanent Record - By Eric Snowden - Interesting so far, fleshing out both the man, his reasons for doing what he did and the truly frightening growth of what has become America's version of "Big Brother in it's data collection and spying on its own citizens, among many other illegal acts. This should be required reading for all Americans, so that they know how far their government has lied to them and violated our constitutional rights.

Hate, Inc. - Why Today's Media Makes Us Despise One Another - By Matt Taibbi - Only about a chapter or two in, but interesting so far. Taibbi is turning his muckraking style on his very own and is illustrating how f-ed our current corporate media landscape is. Very much in the vein of Chomsky & Herman's Manufacturing Consent, which he doesn't hide was a major influence, on his and this particular writing.
