Really excellent advice in this post. Particularly the part about involving your SO. It goes a long way.ArchibaldTuttle wrote:Not specific to this forum but to the hobby in general - buy what you like.
Don’t get sucked in by a bunch of hype. It’s okay to love a thing that will probably never be worth more than cost.
Figure out your style, hang as much as you can on your walls.
A piece of original art will highly likely mean more to you than a lot of mediocre posters sitting in a flat file or portfolio.
Learn some basic framing and storage techniques.
If you live with a partner, show them what you like and get approval. Buy them things they love that might not be your favorite and display them.
Don’t spend what you can’t afford. Print commissions are not great and can take years and you will very very rarely be involved in one that’s worth anything so don’t join in hopes of flipping. Have fun, this is supposed to be fun, it’s only paper.
I would add if you miss a drop for something you really like, don't rage buy. Be patient, it will come around at a good price again (99% of the time).
I'm not someone else.
Except for that commission thing. I'm stacking commas from flipping commissions.
When I'm done ranting about elite power that rules the planet under a totalitarian government that uses the media to keep people stupid, my throat gets parched. That's why I drink Orange Drink. - BH

When buying - Quality > Quantity. When I started, I "needed" everything, but now I'd rather have 1-2 posters that I love hanging on the wall than a dozen that "look pretty cool" sitting in a portfolio or flat file.
When posting - Quantity > Quality. Memes and/or GIFs will usually do the job.

Aldo, you forgot the add that you should be careful flipping Obey prints because getting caught doing so means a perma-ban...even for the offsets.aldobishalini wrote:If you miss on a drop (even if it's for something you REALLY wanted), don't be an entitled brat. You get easy drops, you get hard drops, you miss easy drops, you miss hard drops. Just be grateful for the pieces you end up getting and encourage others who missed out. Flippers will always be a part of this hobby. Learn to live with that fact sooner rather than later, or else you'll become said "entitled brat".... and that's never a good thing.
And most importantly, just remember....... IT'S FANCY PAPER!!! ENJOY IT!!!
