Has anyone used a 3rd party shipping insurer that they would recommend use or not use? Specifically, I would like to ship a package from the US to the UK and insure it for the price of the $750. I believe that I've seen in some recent facebook group topics that these 3rd party shipping insurance groups will cover USPS First Class International for rates in the range of $1.60 per $100 of value. Some shipping insurance companies that I've found are https://www.shipsurance.com/, https://www.insurepost.com/, and https://www.pipinsure.com/. If anyone has any stories of success or failures with these groups or others that would be helpful, please share.

I use shipsaver.com when I want to use 3rd party insurance for prints. Never an issue. Had only one claim and it was paid super fast.

I would be interested if you need to declare at “full value” in order to gain full insurance coverage?

No, you dont have too.

I have declared low value with usps on the parcel to mail it First class as its half the price as Priority. Then insure it for the value paid (up to $2500) via shipsaver.

Although first class is super slow at times. Sometimes its worth the piece of mind to pay for overnight/ next day shippig for more valuable pieces.

What was the value of the claim?

Would like to see how things shook out for a claim on a transaction in the 4+ figs range.

Me too. I have only used it for the pieces I've sent that are above the FedEx or USPS limit.... so in that range. Few and far between but hopefully no claims in the future.

For either insurance group mentioned here, will the customs form # for a USPS First Class International package be sufficient for tracking or would an upgrade to USPS Priority International be required for the tracking?
