Bottleneck Gallery News/Rumors!
Stuff from NYCC up and sitting. I dig the Dark Knight posters a lot, but I've got too many Batman prints . . .

From Gabz Facebook:
Word was that Frank Darabont was attached and it would've involved Kevin Costner as Indy's sort-of-a-failure brother, but they scrapped it all when George made his preference known for some story about aliens and illegitimate sons and swarms of monkeys or some other nonsense.

Hope Gabz challenged himself this time out and that this isn’t the latest trace-a-thon.

He’s referring to the notion that Indy is irrelevant. If you take him out of the movie, the same events occur.
This take on the movie is emphatically noy true.
If Indy had not been there Marion would've either been tourtured by Nazis in Nepal, Killed by Nazi's in the dessert, or taken to an island and looked inside the ark only to have her face melt off.
Indy movies have always been about how the people you love are important. Not the trinkets you keep.
If Indy wasn't there Marion would've died. His true purpose for the film.

Well the notion of Indy being irrelevant is in regard to, whether he's there or not, the nazis get the ark and all of them die. We can argue over his real purpose, whether it's saving Marion, or stopping the Nazis. But the general trope of "good guy stopping bad guys", he's irrelevant to the plot

Also, the Nazi's would have kept digging in the wrong place and never found the Ark.35mmpaul wrote:This take on the movie is emphatically noy true.
