Look great in person!
Edge on bottom is subtly deckled.
Those two framed in the photos were a set, number 6/200. Sold before the show for $500 each.

Oof. You gonna display all 4? Not having diamond dust or special inks on these prints was a sin, given the price.jonnyjett wrote: +2 yellow

I think I've fallen off the fence on the side of passing. I just don't like the colors though I like the yellow better than the red.. Too spirograph for me and not in a good way

Here are some close-ups of the Yellow I picked up at last night's show.
Interestingly, they rolled it with a sheet of tissue paper covering the printed area. I've never seen this done before.

Although tissue is not normal for a majority of Fairey releases, they are quite common for poster shipments, period. Are you new to the hobby? If so, welcome to the jungle...jonnyjett wrote:Interestingly, they rolled it with a sheet of tissue paper covering the printed area. I've never seen this done before.
Thanks! I'm definitely still learning. Been collecting for only about 15 months.bulkhead72 wrote:Although tissue is not normal for a majority of Fairey releases, they are quite common for poster shipments, period. Since you own both, I'd like to ask you which you like better when you look at them side by side?jonnyjett wrote:Thanks! I'm definitely still learning. Both are fantastic.applehead wrote:Since you own both, I'd like to ask you which you like better when you look at them side by side?
They are much more vivid and colorful than his promo photos. Admittedly it's difficult to photograph these prints because the lines cause havoc with the jpeg compression, and it's tough to get color and contrast accuracy.
They both have greater contrast than his photos as well. Both seem a bit faded, and the yellow seems especially more bland in his photos. For example, the second ring in his photo looks like a faded yellow, but it really has an contrasting orangish hue. And even my photo of the red is a bit lighter than it really is, and it isn't quite as dark shown in my red close-up.
There is also a subtle ring on the very outside (beyond the flower points), that contains much more red/violet/pink in both prints, but you can't see it in his photos.
I'd say the red is (naturally) more intense, and the yellow is more calming with almost a "tropical" feel.
I think what it comes down to is would you like a yellow "calming" Andre or a red "energetic" Andre?
