I just watched Nocturnal Animals last night. First off, that is just a gorgeous movie to watch....verrrryy pretttttyyy. But godamn did that movie make me feel uncomfortable, especially the whole beginning sequence (car pursuit). I definitely have a very sensitive sympathetic nervous system but I can't remember feeling that uneasy during a scene before. I thought it was a solid and captivating movie, definitely overlooked when it came to award season (?anyone?). Also, Michael Shannon is the effin man - that is all.

I actually watched Hail Caesar right after Trumbo not knowing what great companion films they are to one another.

I'm too lazy. Somebody please commission a competent artist to tackle something like this:

And call it "Take my hand, Peter."

Then sign me up for one.

Perfect for Alice X Zhang 'Moments'. Maybe a variant where its the mom instead of Gamora.

Just a thought.

Watching again now. Can't wait to check out Vol 2 tonight.

Went to a screening of Uzumasa Limelight which was a very interesting behind the curtain film, also a nice note on aging and perceptions.

Film Society of Lincoln Center is hosting a Stalker restoration screening from the 5th to the 11th, which I really need to go to.

My sister always comes to visit during good series, don't know if James Caan is a good enough excuse to miss family time.

Nice double feature for the new Caan Film Festival at the Museum. Some talk about getting an Alien Nation reel for next years showing, that would rule.

Soundtrack from Thief in a theater is righteous!

Had a full day at the Museum yesterday, 35mm print of Jurassic Park & Jaws. Both first time I've seen on the screen.

The film curator said the Jawsprint was the best he's personally seen and he wasn't lying, so clean and it was like seeing it when it came out in '75. JPstill instills that sense of wonder.

The last film was The Gambler, with James Toback speaking after. There are a only a few prints of the film left in good condition, so this was great. Toback had some great stories about lots of folks. Living in Jim Brown' orgy house for 18 months was a highlight.

Halfway into 'Shane' and I'm hoping this annoying kid Joey catches some crossfire.

EDIT: Made this.

Started Skull Island last night - got through the first 25 minutes before I fell asleep. Is it worth finishing? Seemed like a cheesefest but maybe it picks up?
