Bottleneck Gallery News/Rumors!
I'm sure joe will have way more detail on it, but I think that comes from the oil based inks that some printers use. Which have a different smell and texture to them. I think. I could be completely wrong.

See alot of people on forums etc. saying that the Burton FOTR looks kind of blah - the image is beautiful. The outer part of the print is lacking, but would look amazing in something like this (quick mockup). Definitely a print that needs a good frame-up.
Ya'll see the leprechaun say yaaaaaa!
I think it's a little blah for a poster. It certainly fits in perfectly with Alan Lee's style, and it would look great in a book. I guess I'm being totally inconsistent, lol.
Also, because the scene he chose is from the prologue and doesn't instantly signal "The Fellowship" to me, it would work better as an art print without the title and other text. Or as part of a portfolio of images from the book. As "the one" image for this story, it's not quite right for me.
But it's a big story, and it's great for people the play with different concepts. I'm sure plenty of people will love it. I'm pickier about Middle-Earth art even than I am about Star Wars art, so it's tough to find anything I really like. I actually wouldn't mind if someone (hint, hint) would create screenprints of some of Ted Nasmith's Tolkien illustrations. Those would be incredibly vibrant and beautiful as posters.

Burton is a great illustrator and this image is stellar because it's scene that has not been really done before in the poster scene before.
I mean, unless I'm forgetting it, this scene is in the Fellowship of the Rings movie, and book.

Each book has at least one well-developed visit to "Ancient Middle Earth History" if memory serves.ethnosax wrote: Also, because the scene he chose is from the prologue
I think three such scenes would work very well together as a true LOTR Triptych.
I'm a huge LOTR fan so I grabbed one.
Anyone know how I can go about getting my old account back? I used to be "black_towr" on here and had to get a new name because I couldn't log in. I tried getting in touch with an admin but nothing.
