I don't think Olly is looking for inspiration, or needing to make something appealing or long-lasting (he's done both by now). His obfuscated statements sound like they're coming from someone who's wanting to do more with his time than entertain. Like he wants his work to not exist in a bubble, separate and unaffected by what he sees, fears, and respects around him. Like he wants to use his time being more engaged in the future.
Olly has 'justified' his pop-culture art by saying he was depicting (super)heroes, same as Michelangelo did with heroes of his day. While he wasn't comparing his own artistic abilities to those of people whose work is admired centuries later, he was (correctly I believe) pointing out that regular people of the past liked the same kind of subject matter we do. What was pop culture then is classical now. But has his work been an attempt to communicate any ideas outside of the pop culture niche it represented, other than a theme of nostalgia? I'm sure some of it has. I think a lot of what he's done is terrific even if there isn't a bigger purpose other than to look (REALLY) cool - I own a bunch of his work.
Olly has always had a knack with layers, figuratively of course with his hidden visual puns etc and literally too. Will he be able to create and do something that has popular appeal but also a deeper relevance to the world around him and what he is feeling and thinking?
OLIVER MOSS FOR PRESIDENT why the heck not

What is going on LOL not at all the direction I was leaning all those savings can go to a persons head, Olly bought Firewatch today during the Steam sale and probably said to himself "This what my life has come to my art is on flash sale, it's official I've sold out."chaeldub wrote:Black Fridays Matter?bulkhead72 wrote:Racist?bluebirdsong wrote:a case of the black friday'sCodeblue wrote:Sounds like someone's having a lil quarter life crisis.

It's always okay to consider and reconsider what you devote your energy toward. Hopefully it's something we all get to see. If not, it is what it is.

I assume people are still waiting for their HP prints? I ask because I've had a number of packages stolen in the past few months, and without receiving shipping notification I wonder if these were taken too.

static shipped out a few orders due to having their paypal account locked. so they had to ship some to prove that they were an actual company who ships prints and stuff.
