Remember when VHS costs like $100 each....man loosing rented movies was a bitch.

Yea...they were cultivating a rental market then. I remember my much older stepbrother neglected to return a copy of Risky Business. We moved a few hours a way. 8 year old me was always fascinated by the $100.00 price printed on it. That and full frontal Rebecca De Mornay.

I don't think I've ever seen a Blu Ray above $20... Except for these Mondo steel book things. Hey, to each their own but I'm perfectly content with my 4K TV and all my streaming options. Any movie is available for free if you look in the right places

But then again I spend money on vinyl because I'm a jerkoff so what the hell do I know, ha.

I was getting comments about how much I was willing to spend on a record, on a vinyl forum. Nowhere is safe!

I'm not part of the majority having spent over $500 for a print, $500 for a movie, and $2000 for a statue. Collectors of media are more about what the art looks like on the package, and if its rare etc. Half of us dont even open up the movies as we already own the discs inside in the cheaper versions. I'd say its a lot like people who collect toys from big box stores and don't open the toys.

Ha, that's wild. I mean at least records are mostly better quality than cd's so there is justification in spending more on a record vs. MP3. I'm not quite sure what the quality of steel books are because I haven't paid attention nor do I plan on buying one. Is it just a Blu ray or something else?

Yeah. It's a blu ray with a well done case.

Full slips from Kimchi and Nova Media have the steelbook and a slip case for the steelbook that have really cool art and sometimes lenticular covers and also are limited edition. So they sell out pretty quickly.

It's just packaging. I'm a complete sucker for interesting/alternative packaging.

It's just another collectable.

Has the majority of people spent $500 on a movie? Bluebird may have had it right. It's either a case of missing punctuation creating confusion, or I just don't love movies enough. Either way, I am also interested in knowing what movie was worth $500 even if he hasn't bought it himself.

If time equals money, then there are a LOT of films that've taken at least $500 from me, for good or for ill.
