This just went for $4k at http://www.julienslive.com/view-auction ... lot/74721/
I've been watching a lot of these street art auctions lately and am really questioning the validity of these bids. The prices on a bunch of pieces have been 3-4x what you can easily find them for elsewhere. There was a Faile Surgere Supra Bestias in that same auction that went for $2800+ and those have been averaging ~$600-700 with two on ebay right now for <$1k. There was a Paddle8 auction recently with newer Fairey prints that you can easily find for ~$100 that were going for >$600. With the types of results I've been seeing lately, I've been thinking I should hit up one of these auction sites and sell a large chunk of my collection. Just not sure if people are actually paying those final prices or if there's some price manipulation going on behind the scenes because the prices honestly make absolutely no sense to me.DavieVegas wrote:This just went for $4k at http://www.julienslive.com/view-auction ... lot/74721/

I agree with GmidD. The few that I have perused have had inflated prices. I actually bid in an auction on one of the sites, I don't remember which but, time expired and suddenly they "added 2 extra minutes for bids!" I bid again, time expired and what do you know, "extended another 2 minutes!" Nope, like GW said, "fool me once...you can't get fooled agin"
Beyond that, where are they getting all these high dollar bidders? It's not as if these auctions are on the usual places to the kind of art listed.

I'm not someone else.

I imagine there are TONS of auction places and I imagine its hard to validate any of them. Paddle8 is known for having outrageous bids that are questioned. It seems people question all auction houses these days. I guess it only matter if someone has tried to sell something and they actually got paid for it. But people have mixed emotions with auction houses. Even Artsy has some weird bids from time to time.

Probably a lot of Alt's on those sites I'd imagine

Great to know. Maybe Ill try them out in the futurebosco004 wrote:Juliens is a legit auction house. Also they partnered with Artsy.net for their latest street art auction and the previous with those insane sales. Not sure why the prices got bid up so high but it's 100% legit.
