I tried Aultmore 12 yr the other day, and really enjoyed that. Very easy drinking, but maybe quite light for seasoned whisky connoisseurs...which I am not.

Jefferson's Straight Bourbon Wood Experiment Collection is coming today, I'm pretty sure.
I was able to see the product page a little earlier and cart one, but the purchase was not allowed, and it has since been made somewhat "invisible" until it is released, I guess.

Ardbeg Dark Cove is in the same situation.
Will update with more info as it becomes available.

edit: UPDATE - oh well, maybe tomorrow

Caught these lovely Scotch glasses at Goodwill.
Guessing it was a set of 6 or 8, but these were $0.97 each, and who DOESN'T remember those smoky NFL glasses from the 70s?

I'm tellin yas. Tomatin 12 is one of the best values I've ever found. $30-$40 for a bottle.

Not really into blends the last few years. How does this compare to a solid single malt of reasonable price (sub $100)?

Why compare it with a $100 bottle of anything?

It's a delicious Scotch, with all components matured for a minimum of 12 years.
Tastes better than plenty of more expensive drams I've had.

Tomatin 12YO is around $35, and The Antiquary 12YO tastes every bit as good to me.

Don't believe we have ever tried Russel's Reserve so we are giving it a taste this evening. Picked up another Bulleit Barrel Proof, it's really fantastic. Another good thing about the Bulleit Barrel Proof is that it has brought the price down on the Bulleit 10 year by about $7 bucks. I also love the 10 year and feel it is significantly better than the regular Bulleit but at $46 was over priced. We also cracked open a Four Roses Private Barrel the other evening. This particular OESO is by far the best 4R I have had yet. It's absolutely perfect with a single ice ball. Will be getting more of this barrel this weekend for sure.

The Makers Mark 46 Barrel Proof has hit the stores. She loves the 46 but we both felt a $70 price was kind of ridiculous.

^^ interesting, first I've heard of that one. Hope I can find a taste of it somewhere.

Wouldn't have taken a gamble on the MM Cask Strength at $55 but had a pour of it and bought a bottle. Definitely worth it at that price for me, which is pushing the limits of what I will spend on a single bottle.

Picked this one up from our local 291 distillery.
Pretty tasty but pricey at $75/bottle.

Not really sure what you're asking here. I was just asking how it compared to something in the sub-$100 price range. Very confused by your question. It almost seems like you got defensive over a $30 bottle of scotch?

Laphroaig 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch tastes like burning band-aids for $125

I just picked up a bottle of Old Forester's 1897 bottled in bond 100 proof bourbon. Color me impressed. I'm not a fan of "smoothness" for its own sake, but this is one of the most drinkable 100 proof bourbon's I can remember trying. And based on the flavor profile, with a strong green apple flavor, I suspect that this juice is extra-aged Woodford barrels. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes the Woodford expressions, or more fruit/floral forward bourbons, like Four Roses. It cost me $50 in Arizona, but I would definitely buy it again.
