Again with the text.
I think he's figured making art for people who need it literally spelled out for them is the best way to go forward.
Oh well.

Fair critique. These hit you over the head with the message, but are still fun collabs. Love the colors.

I agree about the colors and collaboration with a legend, but he's underestimating his audience and that is a shame.bulkhead72 wrote:Fair critique. These hit you over the head with the message, but are still fun collabs. Love the colors.
The second one is obviously a cover for a publication so the type makes sense. That one is really nice.samuraiwriter wrote:I agree about the colors and collaboration with a legend, but he's underestimating his audience and that is a shame.bulkhead72 wrote:Fair critique. If someone wants to convey a message through typography instead of graphics and imagery, so be it.

All I am saying is he has evolved into something less than where he started. Devolved, I guess that's the word. Are you arguing his more recent work surpasses his older work, PDC? Of course not. It's not even in the same league.PDC wrote:The second one is obviously a cover for a publication so the type makes sense. Some artists get better with age, some don't. Who cares, right? As long as it "sells out" and folks can flip it.

Y'all can feel free to complain about text in Fairey's solo stuff, but honestly, Jamie Reid is all about text and typography. It's a distinctive and defining aspect of his work.
I dig the Suburban Pressure. Will definitely try and pick one up.
