I haven't received it yet but Doug at Framing Devil posted this tonight. My Jason Edmiston Daryl Eyes Without a Face sketch signed by actor Norman Reedus. I'll post close ups once it arrives. Cannot wait to see it!

Good framers at Michaels are slim to none but it can happen. I'm lucky enough to have a guy at Michaels as well. Been framing for 10+ years, studied color theory, and knows most of the artists I bring in. So he also knows what framing style matches the art. Plus he exclusively handles all the mounting and assembly so none of the other morons get their greasy paws all over it.Diabolos80 wrote:The lady at my Michael's is fantastic. I don't disagree though, I've done some smaller things with Michaels and they've done a fine job. Just depends on who works at your local store.

just like quality framing.... finding a "good" framer is an art and extremely difficult. i've run the gambit between the big stores (like michaels) and small shops. i've had good and BAD experiences at both. it really is finding the SPECIFIC person who is going to work on the framing. so many times it is passed off to someone else. even if you think a specific person at michaels is working on your print.... there is just a good of a chance that someone else is. it is definitely NOT guaranteed (even if you request it).
in general.... i think michaels overall framing quality just isn't nearly as good as smaller shops. even if you pay top price (after sales coupons) and request higher quality materials, the frames finished look just don't look 100% professional quality. there always seems to be something just not quite perfect with their finished product (whether it being a matte just ever so slightly uneven or frame joins ever so slightly off). they typically look fine from a distance, but a discerning eye (aka mine) can notice the variations and subpar product.
