The muted tones of the background characters on the Batman un-clutter it for my eye but different strokes for different folks :groucho:

Recent posters seem more in a style of magazine editorial art. Need me some "old" style.

Man, what happened to Martin Ansin? He used to kill everything he did. Now...this.

I think Ansin's current illustration style compliments these comic book movies quite well. His previous look with more sweeping, elegant line work better for the classics - like UM.

The problem is the composition, which is very muddled and chaotic, not unlike the Stout Avengers. The difference is Stout grounds the image with a strong title and billing block, and use of the Avengers A. With the weaker title and billing block, it looks more like a giant splash page than a movie poster.

While I understand the criticisms I find it hard to judge something like this until I've seen it in the flesh, blown up to 24x36. I've read some comparisons to his Batman poster, and that looks beautiful up on the wall. The detail and colors pull you right into the art. Ansin's one of the best and I can't wait to see this in person. Fingers crossed...

This is the huge difference. Batman the whole piece is centered around batman and robin with all the villains being secondary. Not so much in this one.

just doesn't seem like the same dude who did Taxi Driver, Phantom of the Opera, Bride of Frankenstein just to name a few.
