awful tattoo. pitchfork metal at its finest.

people should just listen to mercyful fate.
If you don't like Ghost, that's fine. If you don't like the subject of the tattoo, that's fine too. But you cannot tell me that the artist didn't do an incredible drymountin job on it. That detail is incredible. And portraits are not easy..
the artwork is killer, don't get me wrong. awful tattoo as in thats an awful tattoo to get.

The work is great, there's no question. From a personal standpoint, I would rather see an artistic interpretation of a particularly meaningful song or lyric if I were going to get something from a band inked on me. Make the connection a little more personal, rather than just a portrait. It's all a matter of preference though.

The only tattoo I've ever considered is based off of a piece of art from a Neurosis album.

When it happens, I'd let an artist interpret it more than anything.

Yup. See me, i don't take tattoos too serious. I get somethin on me, because i like it. I only have 1 tattoo that actually has meaning behind it. What's that polar bear mean? I drymounting love polar bears; favorite animal. What's up with the werewolf? I drymounting love werewolves; favorite monster. What's the story on the mermaid? I drymounting love mermaids. And so on and so forth lol.
