I thought the last round of "portrait" style ladies were very meh(Oakland) but this one really gets it done for me. As far as the reused pattern from geisha, I think it works better here so I don't mind the repeat. His best work of 15 imo. On a side note I think she looks more Hawaiian than asian, its the lips.

This is such a nice print. Be a nice looking room with the WSP Atlanta and the Shonen knife blue wave foil!

+1 - She looks like my wife . . . 25 years ago.
Lies are a funny thing. They slip through your fingertips because they never happened to you. Time wounds all the heals as we fade out of view

Chuck is so hit or miss for me. I mean, I think the LA UM Poster and the Philly Black Keys are some of the best gig posters we've seen released this year and last. But this isn't even in the same league in my eyes. I was really excited when I heard he was doing a potentially Japanese themed piece titled Sakura. It seemed like it had a lot of potential. The girl depicted could have been a geisha or draped in a kimono. The flower in her hair is representative of kanzashi, traditional Japanese hair ornaments but it's painfully simple compared to the majority of kanzashi out there which typically incorporate a hanging element. He didn't even bother attempting to differentiate it from flowers he's done in past posters. The background is new but it, as well as the girl, just seem so flat. It doesn't evoke even the slightest bit of emotion from me.
I also agree with eternal that she doesn't look very Japanese.

These are beautiful. Too bad the price wasn't in Yen, the conversion rate would have been fantastic.
