I'm sure there will be plenty more chances.

Tyler is hands down one of my top three cinema screen print artists and the Alien franchise is one of my top three film franchises... So when I see this print and imagine what could have been I can't help but feel complete and utter disappointment. I've been so stoked since the release was announced a few weeks back. In no way shape or form did I imagine this is what we'd be getting.
I honestly don't get it. Tyler has a distinct style, others have emulated it over the years, but without a doubt he rules the roost. Why deviate from that which you excel at. I know for a fact Tyler loves this film, so for him to release this thinking it's a good representation of his style and ability, I just don't get it.
Tyler remains an amazing artist and an even better person, all that he does for charity is commendable. But when it comes to Tyler and Alien, I've no choice but to stick with the handbills and give this poster a pass.
Please just don't do this to Aliens, it's your chance for redemption with the franchise.

I'm not sure why the vaginas in the background are being referenced as negative. This film is as much about Giger as anyone else, and he's all about vagina and rooster. They're all over the movie.

Yes, let's blame the artist for a product that was obviously in no way complicated by likeness rights issues and/or company pressure to force a design meant for a vinyl cover into becoming a poster.jcbudny wrote:Tyler is hands down one of my top three cinema screen print artists and the Alien franchise is one of my top three film franchises... This is one franchise where I think you go a lot of directions without likeness rights. The spacesuits themselves are so cool. The scene with the Navigator and the space suits, a facehugger and some eggs... even leave the main alien out. That being said, good luck everyone going for this.

Wish the Xeno mouth was replaced with the Nostromo. Regardless, this print is quickly growing on me and I'm very excited to see it in person and pore over the details. So much is lost in these jpegs.
Sure, had it been a poster design first and foremost, and not a vinyl/poster hybrid, the composition might have been stronger. I'm digging the large title and the touches around the border.
Haters are gonna hate - they can have their little commissions and pat themselves on the back for adding likenesses to every print.

Sorta like the regular more. The figures seem more differentiated in the variant. The figures seem to meld more seamlessly in the regular. Kinda like they are all part of the "Alien PRIME" . Which I kinda assume Stout was going for? Could be off.
I mainly say that because of the inclusion of the Space Jockey who is pretty much apart of the landscape he encompasses..Also the huge Alien head in the center
Not something I would go out of my way to get, but I don't think it's "bad". Not sure if it's a good movie poster ,though... I think it's "interesting" , I guess. Granted that is a bland statement.
