certainly a lovely piece, and large. might be a benchmark for future sales, like that Envelop #4 that has been sitting on the bay for some time. If torn is say slightly undervalued at that auction price, envelop is certainly way overpriced at that ask.

I think Torn was held back a bit by the aggressive subject matter and the fact that it's part of a sequential story. That whole series made more sense in the gallery setting where you could see the whole narrative unfold. IMO, a solid piece from one of his LeVine shows would smoke that price.
Then again, ebay is kind of a crapshoot for 5 figure art, so maybe not.

For me personally, Torn was one of the least favorite Keyes images I have ever seen. Technically great as always from Josh, but the subject matter/image was of absolutely no interest at all.

unrelated, but i was in Rotofugi a few weeks back and saw the lifted sculpture in person for the first time. for those on the fence, my personal view was that i was glad i ended up opting out on it. it is nice, but has a certain unfinished quality to it that i thought made it less then buying a print form JK for similar money.
it may be my frame of reference, but it just did not have the finished polish i would want in an art piece, and a to be honest did not stand up to some of the high end premium toys that you might see from sideshow, 3a or hot toys. It certainly did not come close to the finished look of a piece of fine porcelain like a Lladro figurine. for those that bought one, im sure it is great, i am glad i spent the loot getting the lifted print framed and up.

probably shill bid it up to keep it from going under cost.
Of course it was. That's why I commented earlier that the seller did good; because it sold for way more than it should have. Apparently it was too good to be true lolsixstringer wrote:probably shill bid it up to keep it from going under cost.
