http://g1988.tumblr.com/post/8584975461 ... -releasing
We are proud to announce that we will be releasing an 16x20 inch archival giclee print of Scott C’s incredible Ghostbusters painting on Ghostbusters30th.com. This piece is truly one of the best we’ve ever seen from Scott, and that’s saying something!
This print will be sold in a Timed Release, meaning everyone will have 72 hours to purchase it, and once that timeframe is over, they will never be sold again. The signed and numbered edition size will be determined by the amount sold during the release.
It will become available at the stroke of midnight (EST) / 9 PM (PST) Tuesday, May 27th, and stay available through Friday night, May 30th at midnight (EST) / 9 PM PST.
Each print will be $70.00

Timed editions. Dat flipper kryptonite.lsmith55 wrote:$70 for a timed? Pass.
True that. I actually like it, but it still seems pricey for what it is. I don't know that I would pay $70 for a Scott C giclee ever. Still nice looking though.Superfro33 wrote:Timed editions. Dat flipper kryptonite.lsmith55 wrote:$70 for a timed? Pass.
Just to play devil's advocate, not all timed editions are flipper kryptonite. See Moss' 5x5s, Durieux Peter Pan, Journey to the Centre of the Earth.lsmith55 wrote:True that. For me, I already have a spare 16 x 20 frame laying around. Probably going to pick one up just to see it in person, maybe pop it in the frame for awhile if I like it. If not, I could probably sell it for 50 or 60 after, lose what in essence is the cost of a movie ticket on it.
Could be facetious ... maybe not. Anyway, I'm guessing that's Ray Parker Jr.mliddell wrote:I think I see Lando Calrissian

An entire thread of these would be pretty hysterical. Just every release a nice little prediction. I'd be interesting to see how the predictions and reality fall out.hidinginplanesight wrote:Time editions are tricky and can sometimes be very surprising when it comes to resale value. at $70 +shipping/tax this release is probably not going to bring in the big insta bucks. that being said, at this price point there is the potential for a lack of interest and thus a lower final edition – surprising everyone with decent returns when the supply is low and demand creeps up.
Flip Factor: 3/10. it's a gamble. but we all like to gamble right?

To be clear the timed edition sale type is the kryptonite to the average run of the mill insta-flipper. I totally don't feel personally that all timed editions don't flip. My point more so is that it seemed like folks were down on this being a timed edition, and honestly the ONLY reason I can see someone feeling that way is because they wanted to flip it. I still think they could with this piece....just not INSTA!! So the flippers just drown in Lex's pool.jrsheppa wrote:Just to play devil's advocate, not all timed editions are flipper kryptonite. $70 for a timed giclee, at that. Is the printer powered by precious metals? Why so high?lsmith55 wrote:$70 for a timed? Pass.
