I can't comment on the film as I haven't seen it but it looks good...and O'Russell hasn't made anything I haven't enjoyed at least a little.

I find it hard to get angry about any high quality production with great actors that isn't based on a series orfranchise these days. My thought it always, at least it isn't a sequel.

Glad Her and Philomena and Nebraska all got love.

I thought AH was trying really hard to be a Scorsese -type film like Casino or Goodfellas, and in some regards it was but fell short in a lot of other areas. It was a good movie, but I dont think it lives up to the hype.

It was good not great. I thought Wolf of Wall Street was the better flick. Inside Llewyn Davis which did not get much Oscar love was much better

I felt the same way about him until this film. It had great performances from Bale and Adams. Lawrence was alright. The story itself was the weakest part of the whole movie. It don't think it would make my top 20 of the year.

Both of those films crush American Hustle.

Biggest overlook imho was Monsters University, How anyone would think Despicable Me 2 was better, or the Croods for that matter, I cant even comprehend.

AGREE! Dispicable Me 2 was funny, but Monsters University was a better movie by a mile.

No love for Planes or Turbo...

Agree 100%, and Dallas Buyers Club was great as well. I want Leo to get his Oscar, and it is crazy to see Jonah HIll back on the list for supporting actor after Moneyball. He is showing the world he has some acting chops besides being the funny guy. He was awesome in Wolf so I would not be surprised if he won but I do not expect it. I have a feeling McConaughey could pull off the best actor and steal it from Leo. He was awesome in DBC

Indeed. Planes wasn't amazing, but figured the animation and camera angles would get it in, and MU was MUCH better than Despicable Me 2 (and didn't waste my time with Croods). Yeah, was really hoping for a MU Whalen...

At least we will get a Whalen Frozen, right?!

I agree re: the Scorsese comment, I thought the same early on once that narration came in, reminded me of Goodfellas.
I liked the characters and the acting, but I think it fell short in other areas. Good movie but perhaps came in with too high expectations.

Is it a new trend to nominate so many films for Best Picture?
