Commission process pic thread

Well, I had this idea that I would love to have my 2 favorite bands Rush & Tool (obviously) immortalized on my wall in some way (aside from all the posters). Then one day I was browsing the Horkey thread and came across Matt's (decker3984) insane lettering on some dudes tube (no way to make that sound any less strange, so I am going to own it) and it hit me - the band names in the Horkey lettering style. So, knowing that Aaron was miles out of my price range (if he even does commissions anymore) and seeing how talented Matt was, I sent him a PM to see if he was interested in a paying gig and, to my great relief, he said he was on board. After some back and forth PM's, we came up with a style of lettering and even colors! Both will end up being 12x12 and I am seriously excited to see where this goes!
I made sure Matt was ok with me posting process pics, so watch this thread and I will update it when I get new pics.

looking forward to seeing how this pans out
Indeed!
I feel like when it comes to creating (great) art for the band TOOL and getting the vibe right at the same time (dark and macabre yet transcendent) could be tricky, but I'm sure whatever decker3984 creates is going to be beautiful no matter what.
On a similar note, I would love to see how Aaron would approach creating a gig poster for TOOL.

image 4 where the real fun begins. Rather than ink flat on paper, we have opted for a more 3D look. So, what you see is Matt cutting the black part of the letters out of black velvet.

Well, technically...
It is matte black, but I am going to try black velvet as well and we will see which looks better.
Thanks Jeff!
