Launch of KAWS BOBA FETT by OriginalFake x Medicom Toy

The morning of January 26th saw a massive queue outside OriginalFake for the launch of BOBA FETT (KAWS Version), and via snaps courtesy of Angry Woebots (who himself scored a figure via a proxy - Congrats!) it was reported that the line saw over 400 folks waiting for a chance to score the vinyl, of which images of both the figure and box are shown here. SRP for the figure is/was 18,900 YEN (approx US$208) - so that's a reference for when you rush for it in the secondary market :p

No doubt the announcement of the closing of OF helped fuel the desire for this particular collectible, I reckon folks would have still gathered for the BOBA-figurine regardless, because it simply looks BOSS! I could go on and whine about how much I want one, but I know I could hardly afford one … I wonder if there will be bootlegs to be had instead? … hhhmmm …

OriginalFake to Close May 2013

"May 2013 marks the seventh year anniversary of OriginalFake, and it is at this time that Medicom Toy and I have chosen to close the shop and company. It's been an amazing opportunity to work with Medicom Toy on this project as well as working with Masamichi Katayama of Wonder Wall to create the interior of the shop and Konno of Nexus7 who's incredible talent really added sophistication to the clothing that we produced.

I really want to thank the staff in production as well as in our shop. If you ever entered our shop you already know how awesome they are! I would also like to thank all the companies that collaborated with us, your friendship and support has always really meant a lot, and to everyone who has supported OriginalFake, THANK YOU! and I hope to see you all in the next chapter!" ~KAWS.

We've seen the pic posted above, and as well rumors have been floating about the www for a time recently, so this is straight from KAWS on his Facebook. And while KAWS BOBA FETT is scheduled for a release on January 26th at OriginalFake in Tokyo, there are sill some months between now and May 2013, so stay sharp for releases, folks!

Damn these are awesome.. it's a shame it's a Japan exclusive. I probably can't justify paying for one at secondary market price

But its actually something very civilized: you were a mask when you're sick (flue, etc) so keep your neighbour safe from contagion. Quite common in Asia.

If you're sick enough to wear a mask, stay home.

I guess a simple flue stops you to go to work, meet friends, etc.
The mask helps you to continue to have a life without bothering ithers.
