I sent a tube to Austria... paid extra for express delivery. Two weeks later I get an email saying it hasn't arrived. I use the tracking information on their website and see that it's been cleared for customs in the USA.
After a phone call to their customer service I learn that it got put on the wrong plane (CAN THEY NOT READ???) and is now somewhere in the abyss.
It's insured but I have to wait 5 weeks to make a claim. On top of that I paid for a FAST postage method and also the longer a tube is in transit the more likely it is to get damaged.
Urgh
A question I think those buffoons need to ask themselves!

Plumbs! Hope you get it sorted.

UKers, I need some advice. I'm PB'd for someone in Canada, and they're tube from Mondo has arrived. Who should I use to ship it to them? Parcelforce? Royal Mail? Fedex?
Who's the best for the money. Some insurance will probably be required too.
Thanks.

Hi fellow UKers. Posted a separate ISO thread, but just on the off chance if anyone here has an Ansin Dracula reg they want to shift, drop me a PM. Would much prefer to do business with someone on this side of the Atlantic to reduce hassle, and eliminate the customs charges. Cheers all!

I've always use Airsure and have never once had a problem. Always gets there super quick too. I sent a Keyes insured for £500 recently in a huge Yazoo tube and that wasn't much more than £15 as I remember. Certainly under £20. It's a really good service in my book

How big was the tube? My local post office wont accept tubes longer than 90cm.

In the past I've used parcelflight.co.uk for oversized tubes. They subcontract to Fedex or DHL so shipping is quick, with highly detailed tracking, and they come and collect the tube from you. Usually costs around £20. The downside is that they won't insure art for more than their standard £50. I've taken the risk with some valuable items a couple of times and just made sure that they were very well packaged. I know that there are some other similar websites out there that may be more accommodating when it comes to insuring art, but I just get stuck in my ways...
