The stout BTILC that went for nigh-on $1800 was almost certainly trimmed too I believe. You can see he has it in a stack of standard 24x36 frames in one of the pictures.

He does state clearly in the auction that it's 24x36 but surely it's bad form not to mention the trim?

Wow I contacted the guy and almost bought that Total Recall Variant for $300 before it went up for auction (went for $450+).. now I'm kind of glad I didn't.

This is all so crazy.

I contacted that guy as well and before he could reply to my second email, googled his name. Easy pass.

It's his kids bday dates.
Thanks G.

If folks are curious, he imitates the old NSS numbers very well. I messed up there.

Two bits of trivia for you newer folks with regard to the numbers at the bottom of Tyler's movie prints (because this question gets asked, a lot)

Prior to July '06 when his second kid was born ... the second number on the bottom of the print was his birthday. (4/14/77)

See example ...

Image

The numbers on the bottom of the Akira print are the movie's release date (7/16/88) and the birthday of to Katsuhiro Otomo (4/14/54), who coincidentally was born on the same day as Tyler (different year, obviously) ... the print was also released on April 14th.

See here ...
