i tried and failed.
and now that i took another look at the print, i am asking myself why the drymount i care if i miss it.
the artwork is actually pretty boring.
the colors, predictable.
the style, established.
the message, redundant.
i would like to hear one person here explain why they think its a great piece of art.
i tried like a fool to buy it, because i thought it was one of the few obey prints that doesn't look like a luke warm corporate logo. i love the fact that a well established artist puts stuff out that often has a message to remind us how corrupt things are and drymounted we are if we all let things continue on their current path.
but what spell has been cast to make us think this is great art.
i spent an hour in an art market today, just before this went on sale.
there were some amazing paintings and prints there.
i have been immersed in this gigposter thing with such an intensity that i have paid little attention to other visual arts.
the native american paintings. incredible. the spirit they capture & convey.
almost anything in the store would blow away 90% of the fudge obey peddles.
granted its about opinion and style, so why do people's opinions draw them to this soviet propaganda style that seems so repetitive.
i can't imagine living in a home where that depressing fudge covered my walls.
i liked peace tree. i can say nice things. peace tree kicks ass.
at first i was excited about this one. if i had got one, i would be content and not even thinking this right now. i am actually glad this happened and gave me this feeling. it makes me think about the art more.
who knows, i may love the next obey print. there is a new one almost every week.
jermaines remark comes to mind about what makes an artist succesful. being prolific.
just imagine if horkey, or jeff wood released a new print every week.
wait, their art usually has so much quality & detail that it probably takes them at least a week just to create.
ok, i left myself wide open to have a new ass torn.
low & behold the horkey was such a creative endeavor that...Codeblue wrote:Codeblue wrote:sour grapeskyle wrote:i want to chime in with a question.

glad you got a kick out of it, i know i did when i reread it, but are you mocking the Native American race ?Gigantico wrote:Native American paintings!
if so, not cool.
everyone knows on this board we only make fun of phish & pearl jam.
Na, that was just a super-cheesy line. I live in Phoenix and that generic Native American crap is everywhere you look, with the friggin pinks and teals. Maybe provide an artist you are referring to and I'll stop imagining a pink Kokopeli dancing on top a saguaro. Now exuse me, I gotta go polish my cyrstals.kyle wrote:glad you got a kick out of it, i know i did when i reread it, but are you mocking the Native American race ?Gigantico wrote:Native American paintings!

I have had this Ojibway/Ashnisabae print by Roy Thomas on loan to a museum for the past several months.
