Suggestion - Collection Value Calculator
Just a thought. I've often been curious about the estimated values of poster collections. Current value and total value over time.
Thought it might cool if there was a way to view the total 6 month averages, for all the prints in a given collection. And maybe even a way to track it over time via a graph. I know that anyone could just go and look up all their prints and do the math themselves, but I thought it would be a neat addition to EB. Given my small knowledge of website building and programming, I have no idea how easy or difficult this would be.
Just my 2 cents!

I was just thinking about this the other week, but thought I might be deemed lazy if I suggested it.
I think this is a great idea.

+1 please
Collections with Stout movie posters:
Collections without Stout movie posters:
It would be hard to do, I'm sure, due to not all posters having a 6-month average or even having a sale at all. And some of those don't even have an original price. I suppose any proposed calculator could set aside those without 6-month averages.

Yeah, you could just zero those out-- or assume they have face value. Just have something that is good at-a-glance.jjbehren wrote:Collections with Stout movie posters:

Your calculator is on eBay. That is the only way you will find out the true value.
The averages here are tainted by money grubbing green disease whores.
If you care about the art, the value should not matter.
If you care about the value, your love is not art.

This could set up a class structure, that may not be the best thing for the community, just playing devils advocate. The haves and the have nots, mine is bigger than yours type of deal. We all can see the collections that are not private, I don't know, just seems like a dangerous road, makes it all about value and not about the artwork.
Burn, baby, burn!!!!

I understand what your saying, but it's still information that would be good for people to know.
It's not as much caring about value as it is knowing about it. And knowing about these kind of things is called being responsible.

I don't agree, it's knowledge that any collector of anything should have.krisjay wrote:This could set up a class structure, that may not be the best thing for the community, just playing devils advocate. Yeah, as long as it's a private tool, this could be kind of cool.
