Framed as "not counted"?

I was wondering why if a print is framed they say it's not counted in the history? I was specifically looking at the Shepard Fairey/Obama HOPE 2008 campaign poster history and noticed this. Thanks for your help!

Even though it actually makes the value less in most cases.

If you have a $100 poster, put it in a $500 frame job, then sell it for $600....

I thought it was also due to the fact that you have no idea what condition the print inside is in. Most people frame their fudge as cheaply as humanly possible.

I've bought framed posters for less than just what the poster would sell for. It's a crap shoot.
Shipping cost, which is not included in the sales data, could also affect the final sale price.
Frames rarely add any value, but it does give you ready to hang art. so there is that.
