Totally. Went in with low expectations and they still managed to let me down!

Random question here. But, are there any Scottish members on the board here? Looking for a massive favour for the writers festival in Edinburgh in August and was hoping someone here might be able to help out/might know someone who is going. I'm quite happy to pay for the trouble of doing this favour as well.

I'm about 2 hours away but a friend from work goes up to visit her sister most weekends. I'm assuming it's something from the Fringe festival?
I went up 2 years ago so I may even be there myself.

Edit: I just had a look but it just runs the same time as the fringe (which makes sense). Could still probably help though.

Yeah, the writers festival happens at the same time as the Fringe festival. Haruki Murakami's going to be there for a talk and signing books this year - which is a bit of a rare event as he rarely makes public appearances to do talks, let alone sign books. So I was hoping to try nail someone down who would be willing to go and get a book signed for me - or if they have books available that are signed after the signing, grab one of them for me. George R. Martin will be there as well so I would hope more people would be interested in getting stuff signed by him rather than Murakami though. I'm more than happy to compensate if anyone is able to help me out though.

Dance, Dance, Dance or 1Q84 would probably be my main choices, but really, just having a signed Murakami book would be enough as it is.

I sold the last of my signed Murakami books just a couple of weeks ago. Would've hooked you up. :(

Dang! They're not that expensive on the aftermarket so if this falls through I'll track one down later on. I don't have many signed books but the ones I do have mean a fair amount to me - my signed Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, signed The Turning by Tim Winton - so would love to grab one by Murakami for sure.
