Started dis a couple weeks ago. Not bad so far. My fav part is the Scott C animation from Ep 8. Dat musta been really cool for him to see his art animated and featured in such a big project.
Netflix Streaming Finds.

Albeit not exactly original, Squid Game was pretty intense and enjoyable. The Korean writer/director's depiction of wealthy blood sport American gamblers is pretty laughable though even if it was tongue in cheek.
Wanda: I can't stand people. I hate them. Do you hate them?
Henry: No, but I seem to feel better when they're not around.

I've finished 3 episodes so far. I really enjoy it. I wish they didn't use english voice-over actors in lieu of subtitles though. Kind of takes away from the story a little bit and the "coolness" of this bad ass Korean show.
Every time the main loser dude, #456 talks, I picture Keanu Reeves
Maybe a setting adjustment? We watched it in Korean with English subtitles.HisBobness wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 9:03 pmI've finished 3 episodes so far. I really enjoy it. I think Netflix does that by default with the dubbing fudge. They think most Americans (rightly so) don’t want to read subtitles. I can’t stand dubbing .

Yeah, if there’s an overall setting to get Netflix to stop defaulting to English overdub that would be great. But you can absolutely tell it to play Squid Game in Korean dialogue with English subtitles. (Just finished ep 5)

Same. At this point, I avoid anything new outside the US sans original audio track.
Only time I can recall an effective english dub that wasn't distracting was the Miyazaki stuff, especially to enjoy with my kids when they were younger.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive is pretty good. Watched the whole thing and pretty quickly, actually. Started with Senna, then Schumacher (both were great, imo), then moved to Drive to Survive.
Started watching that Korean show and it is solid too. Of course subtitles is the way to go. Haven’t even tried dubbing.
About a decade ago, while still leaving in the civilization instead of the boonies, I frequented the library borrowing a bunch of international cinema blu rays, among other things. Koreans definitely had most of the world beat with their fudge back then.

I would highly recommend watching the anime, with the English Dub (One of the very few anime' that has great English dubbing)
Also one of the best OST's in that medium. I think Netflix also streams the anime
