The compression also varies by device.

Originally I watched on my Spectrum cable feed, which unsurprisingly had compression artifacts everywhere. Next I tried HBO Go on a 4k Apple TV, which was better than Spectrum but did a really poor job with contrast... I re-watched tonight using HBO Go on a TiVo Roamio and I was super impressed. Still not up to par with physical media, but MUCH better than the other formats I tried.

Anyhow,I really wish they would have killed a lovable character (Briann, Tomund, Sam) just get summarily torn apart by whits in the beginning of that last battle. Which major character do you think will be killed off first in this final arc?

I always thought Tyrion would be one of the last few standing, all the way back to when I read the first book a year after it came out. But lately I have a sinking feeling he's doomed. Episode 5 is going to be a bloodbath I think.

I fully expected at least one of Jaime, Brienne or Tormund to die. But I'm glad they didn't get Walking Dead deaths. Only complaint is I wish that their individual survivals were more believably portrayed. Was sure Pod and Grey Worm were going to be done-sies.

Loved how Jorah's final moments played out, Dany and Drogon in that scene was beautiful. And Theon's. And Beric's. He was brought back from death so many times 'for a purpose'. Ultimately that was protecting Arya's path towards her Night King attack.

Melisandre's return and final exit was perfect. Amazing last shot. Davos exiting the castle behind her was 100% about to kill her in that last scene.

I'm pretty sure now that Sansa, Arya, Tyrion, Sam, Brienne are going to still be around at the end or whatever "afterwards" is.

I'd be shocked if either of Jaime and Cersei make it through the next two episodes alive.

I'd have a hard time accepting that they'd make Tyrion come across so useless for two seasons only to end his story without him proving his worth. But who knows.

And yeah Emilia Clarke was on Kimmel the other night and was selling episode 5 really hard. Something like ".... and watch it on the biggest tv you can find."

Might be all in my head, but the repeat of last week’s episode seems much better lit. Didn’t adjust anything on the tv.

Not in your head, it didn't have any of the compression/cable/streaming artifacts. Looked great. I only watched the last 30 minutes but it was much much much better.

Solid episode. Kind of a very different GOT episode in a way that is hard to explain, I had mixed feelings at first but it was pretty dope.

The best thing about it - 2 Episodes left and I honestly have no idea where things are going. The way I see it is that I really couldn't ask for more than that.

Prediction: Arya and The Hound run into Jaime on the way to King's Landing, conflict ensues, Arya takes Jaime's face. That's the way Cersei dies but it doesn't happen in time to stop the major battle from going down.

Eh, it's just been hard to think that the next major battle's gonna matter all that much when Arya can literally steal faces and kill whoever she wants, and she happens to have Cersei on the top of her list. Why that discussion didn't happen during the Stark team pow-wow is beyond me.

Arya is going rogue. I get the impression she didn't tell anyone except the hound that she didn't plan to come back to Winterfell.

More like Game of the Walking Dead amirite. So much yada yada yadaing through everything and lazy convenient storytelling. It's like watching a cliffs notes version written by the high school drama club. I also find it quite lulsy how much influence Varys has again after being nearly non-existent from the show for years.

How many times is Euron going to ambush people with thousands of ships? And was Dany flying with her eyes closed? She couldn't see a fleet at Dragonstone from her vantage point a mile high?
