Went and saw some film, you may have heard of it: called "Avatar" in IMAX 3D
Visuals and 3D were amazing, the story was ok but nothing complex - all in all what I expected 7.5/10
Giovanni Ribisi was just Paul Reiser's character in Aliens.
Best picture - c'mon seriously??? Best visuals, sound, etc: no question.

This is such an underrated film today. It got the praise it deserved when it was released, but you just don't hear anything about it anymore. The commentary, if you can stand such a thing, is revealing and more a credit to the film's editor than Tatum O'Neil's acting for which she won that year's academy award at age 10. Check it out if you haven't.

The best Dirty Harry in my opinion, gratuitous, ridiculousness and entertaining junk-food for the brain.

I'd like to recommend Brian de Palma's overlooked "Hi Mom!" (1970) Grade: A-

De Palma was as subversive as ever with this film. It's a comedy albeit a really dark one, heh heh. And Robert de Niro is as cool as you can get.
Here's a good write-up I found on a blog:
Robert DeNiro as a Vietnam vet who wants to make a living selling “reality” pornography of the people in the apartment complex across the street doing the do. So yes, the voyeurism’s all here. The centerpiece of this movie is a 20-minute film-within-the-film called “Be Black, Baby,” an avant-garde theater piece in which white get painted in blackface and brutalized and raped. I love that De Palma did this, but I don’t want to watch it again for another 10 years.
Here are a couple other recommendations from my recent Netflix rentals:
Save the Green Planet (2003)
Grade: A-

Lunacy (2006)
Directed by Jan Svankmajer. If you saw his popular stop motion animation film, Alice (1985), you'll love this. A cool (but extreme) Marquis de Sade inspired triple-bill would be Salo (1975), Quills (2000), and this film, Lunacy (2006)
Grade: A-

Cosmos: The Collector's Edition
Grade: A+

This is an 8 Disc set. Carl Sagan series about where we are in the vastness of space and time. Carl Sagan is awesome.
Bonus:
For those that enjoyed Food Inc.(2008) I highly recommend the following
Healing Cancer (2008)
The Beautiful Truth (2008)
The Botany of Desire (2009)
Just so you know, I don't give everything an "A". I rented The Boondock Saints(1999) last week. Watched the first 20 minutes. It's an easy "F+". What a piece of horse sh_+.
