Ali's performance(s) is what's winning me over most, so far. Also nice to see Stephen Dorff get a good role. Always thought he could be a better actor than the movies he was in gave him a chance to be.
Never really paid much attention to Stephen before this. I knew some of his work and his name but he's really killing it in this role IMO. Think I actually like him more than Mahershala Ali at this point (or pretty close).

Think both detectives are doing a good job so far. Really enjoyed the first 3 episodes. Hope it lasts the whole way through.

don't want to read too much into the red herrings I've caught through these first 3 episodes, but drymount I am all over the place.

I'm still tuning in, but this season is a bit of a chore.

spoiler ahead...

the wife definitely covered up whatever the drymount really happened in her books and now they relaunched the investigation because they uncovered evidence against it.

^this; or made up her own story to sell books and because of something in '90 going sideways, the investigation just got dropped/shelved.

also, thought it was a very interesting reveal that Hayes' son (Cyborg) is a cop too; seemed they sort of hid that the first few episodes.

thought the blonde interview lady was some sort of therapy for Hayes for a few episodes, but don't think so anymore. although she did have 2 glasses for wine... so I think there is more to the son relationship than we know so far.

got me hooked.

This. Definitely felt like a "oh, what if he was a cop, too?" rewrite

Nah i didn't think that at all. I actually appreciate the way they are rolling information out slowly. Giving us bits and pieces as the story develops.
So it goes...

I read somewhere, probably reddit, that in the first or second episode they show his son's car which has the spotlight above the side view mirror that cops always have.

Don't they talk about him being a cop in the first or second episode? At least show his badge/gun?

I have a weird theory that the wife was involved in the killings. Interview lady mentions there was a brown car that drove up and down the street around where the kids were. The only brown car we've really seen so far is from the guy who yells at the wife, back when she was single, to get in the car.

It's wild and out there, but might be something.

Nah dude, not that wild. I actually got a bit of an uneasy feeling myself, along those same lines, that I couldn't quite put my finger on, when she went to go visit dead kid's Mom. Didn't really piece the car thing into it, but something just felt off... That would be quite a mindfuck
So it goes...
