Why give up so easily. I mean if it was one of the greatest shows on TV. I do like cherry pie and the smell of Douglas fir trees.
then keep watching it really does get better.

Looks like we're getting a new book that'll fill the gap between episodes.

I have two feelings about this. The first is Showtime is drymounting stupid. How could they let things get this far without negotiations being complete and contracts being signed? Perhaps, much like with this announcement today, Lynch just took matters into his own hands with announcing it. Either way, to start this without being prepared to go all the way with a notably eccentric filmmaker, is just enraging and sad.

My other feeling is, was Lynch being reasonable? This guy hasn't directed anything substantial in a decade. Is he even competent enough to handle the job anymore? I can't imagine the show needing a budget that Showtime couldn't spring for, unless Lynch is just making ridiculous demands.

Either way I don't see myself keeping Showtime if they can't fix this.

Maybe it's just a negotiating tactic? If it's really about Showtime not ponying up the dough, big mistake on their part. Don't do it if you're not gonna do it right. Let it fall apart so HBO, AMC or Netflix can swoop in...

Apparently it was over $$$s. Disappointing news. A sequel without Lynch directing and compromised from the outset by reduced budgets and financial constraints seems a bit pointless. Surely Lynch still holds the upper hand and could use this as a bargaining point to see if another network will come to the table.

Twin Peaks sequel will not be directed by David Lynch after money dispute

Way of the world anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if they never really wanted/needed Lynch back on board. More creative control this way to please the masses and essentially crowdsource palatable storylines (as Netflix says it does via comments, data mining) without having to bow to one very unpredictable guy's vision a loooong time after the first go-round. Moreso if it's just another X-Files deal drumming up interest in the old shows for syndication $$$.

Says a guy who knows little about any of it.
just a foil for me today, thanks
