That's the problem. Abrams had done at least a decent job of salvaging the franchise and getting it pointed in the right direction again. If the worst that could be said about that was that the story was basically the same as A New Hope, I was ok with that. It felt OT again. Rogue One was ok, but lacked the Star Wars feel for me, too violent to take my kid to anymore than I would have taken him to see Dunkirk. The Last Jedi, man, they did a number on the storyline. And more than that, it seemed like they went out of their way to do so. I look at Solo trailers and see an ad for MTV, more of the same. Maybe they'll change my mind, but it's the first Star Wars movie since the prequels I'm waiting to hear the buzz before I catch it in the theater.

Completely reasonable response. What I honestly cannot understand is the general negativity towards Disney when they have given fans at least two movies that, by most measures, are objectively better than any film released since the OT. I get people disagreeing about TLJ. I personally loved it. Who knows how I'll feel in 5 years, though. I also convinced myself I liked the prequels when they were initially released. But rewatching all the movies as an adult, I get second hand embarrassment watching the prequels. So with the PT out there, I don't get the reverence for (or maybe the rose colored glasses people have) for "pre-disney" SW. Also, even though we have differing opinions on TLJ, we both have the same level of excitement for Solo. Hopefully, diminished expectations will make for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

With 20/20 hindsight, Rogue One is the only one of the three I'd pay to see once.

And I wouldn't say Lucas trashed the brand. He just swung hard and missed on completing his longterm vision for the storyline without any real outside input. Got dull, mainly.

I'd take the under. More likely he'll see Woody do one when he's learning the 'business'.

All these mash ups of Lukes frustration prior to release can be quite funny.

He'll learn how to be more empathetic to others and to treat women with respect over the course of the film, by one or more of the 'strong female' characters.

Ha, just read a few pages of this thread and can't believe there are people feeling defensive for JJ "Mystery Box" Abrams. It's not like I'm surprised that the eb crowd is disgruntled about TLJ, but Abrams is a hack.
