I was into this movie in big time in high school and wore my VHS copy out and still have a few of the McFarlane figures. I still appreciate it all these years later and probably should have one of those prints by now and the Stout would be my ultimate choice if I was only going to have one.

I wouldnt say it was weak though.

Tetsuo and kaori for bottlenecks 'get a room' was weak......
I didn't necessarily it was weak on it's own but that it's weaker than say the Stout, Silence TV, or even the Godmachine. And I don't feel like the colors are closer to the original comic. The red is off and I don't remember the kids being green. Or at least THAT green, haha.

Ok...i admit you're right, tophat. again. Damn you
I have such a boner for the print at the mo! Probably cos i just got it and paid a bit for it.
Must get round to hanging, but waiting til next week when my GID piece arrives.

Now,you and i have talked about that one already tophatzombies. :)
I still reckon that whilst the faces on Kaneda in the Morini and Tetsuo on the Godmachine piece are not faithful to anything in particular, the linework of the backgrounds is so strong and otomo-esque that its not a problem for me. And the screaming kaneda has a lot of energy to it.....they make a lovely pairing with the b&w linework continuity. Morini was spurred on to do his piece after seeing Godmachines. They're going on either side of my Iaccarino :P i think my wall would make you ill,you hate my prints!

That said,i'd probably spend $40 on a photo of a turd if it had an akira connection! :D

Haha, no I don't hate any of the Akira prints. There are just some I choose not to own. The Iaccarino is good print and you should be proud to own it! Also yeah I just noticed your post count.

What are your views on the drake, sir? You getting one of those badboys?

I blame acidburn and adamsmasher for my postcount - releasing TWO Akira prints in one month made me go a teensy bit crazy. All from a mobile phone too,if i had a keyboard i wouldn't be so 'quiet'! ;)

Now that rubberneck bestowed us with this thread,i aim to top codeblue's postcount by this time next week....

Hoping for a Tetsuo piece from HCGs Arch Villains show. The chances look quite good,as at least 4 ideas on the first few comments of the thread are definites.

I'm definitely gonna try. I probably won't be able to get out of work until the afternoon but yeah if they still have them I'm gonna grab one.

I'm just gonna post this and prepare myself for any derision....i know Statik HATES it  (love ya Statik, you have the right to your opinion. I respect the honesty. )

I like wearing this. Still work in progress.....needs more shading, and a few big fixes on drymountups. Anyone questioning the weird bike, its a copy of a Katsuhiro drawing so it is right. Tophat has a portion as his avatar and can confirm. Feel free to slate it though! Cant hurt any more than getting the tattoo

I'm surprised neither of the prints has Kaori in it

i dont mean to be mean (but you asked for it) but that tattoo is bad. The wheel on his bike looks like it came off the flintstones car. No dropshadow? Mexican Skull in the middle? :hanging:

Also the 'smoke' at the bottom looks like ripped shreds of paper.

Fair comment, mate. Not mean. The back wheel is a bit shaky. Shadow yet to be added. Mexican skull placement sucks. Was there first, tattooist just worked around it. Kinda a rush job,i turned up for a way different tat that wouldnt have worked in any way,and got presented with a design that maybe works better on paper.
Will post original bike pic so u can compare to your take of the wheel. Respect your opinion though! I still like it,but i would do it differently if i could start over.

Thats fair and constructive criticism,celloman. You'd freak the drymount out if you knew what it cost! :lol;
