I was able to remove the tape without damaging the back of the print, but I could tell the print was going to be damaged based on how the package looked

is it wrong to ask for your money back if the poster arrives drymounted up?

If it weren't for a charity thing, no. It wouldn't be wrong. But in this case, yes. it's a metaphorical yanking of the antibiotics out of a poor
Hatian's arm.

just chalk it up as a loss if you have to look at it that way. maybe voice your concern to the artist somehow, but don't ask for your money back.

and now you can feel less guilty for tacking it up on the wall!

Ummmm, I didn't get one of these. But if I had and it came looking like that, I would have shot an email to lalaland so fast...
Charity or not, that's bad product.

I knew this would spurn some discussion.

I'm not saying don't be upset - it's the responsibility of the artist/merchant to package and ship a product with care, and to provide some sort of good follow-up care if it doesn't arrive in the expected and advertised condition (i.e. "like new," or whatever the drymount that means). So email them, for sure.

That said, my personal opinion is that getting bent out of shape over something like this isn't worth it in the grand scheme of things, especially when one is approaching the purchase with an altruistic attitude, no?

My point - write it off and save your bitching for the next non-charitable poster on sale.

(also, I don't know of this Kii Arens person, but I would assume he or she isn't exactly well-versed with the anality of collectors, given the initial packaging. So you might want to be gentle, but firm. Like taking someone's virginity.)

Charity and virginity in the same post.
That's a first.

Again, charity or not. The artist needs to know that a bad choice was made for the method of shipping.
Imagine if that was a Horkey charity...no wait, Horkey hasn't done one, nevermind.

I talked to the guy at LaLa... if they didn't have replacements, I would DEMAND a refund... If dude at LaLa wants to give me a store credit or a different print that costs the same as the Radiohead, cool, but charity or non charity, this was just shipped poorly!

taper is making sense here.
