Dark City Gallery:
Last year we were given the amazing opportunity to work on two officially licensed posters, for two (1960's) iconic Japanese horror films, 'Onibaba' and 'Kuroneko' both directed by Kaneto Shindô. If you have not seen these remarkable films, I can't recommend them highly enough! Both films share an incredible ghostly atmosphere, which is so unique to Japanese horror.
For this project we were looking to commission an established Japanese artist, someone who had no real knowledge of the alternative movie poster world. An artist who worked within the Ukiyo-e Japanese painting traditions and could bring something completely new to the table. It is with great pleasure and honour we announce that the exceptional Japanese artist Takato Yamamoto has created the following posters.
All posters are limited edition screen prints, 24" x36", priced £70-£85. Available to purchase on Tuesday 11th May at 17:00 (UK time). Please visit Dark City Gallery https://www.darkcitygallery.com
